What are the age requirements to join the Scouting program?
Scouting is for youth 11 to 17 years of age. Youth may also become Scouts if they have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10.5 years old or, in absence of the AOL Award, have completed the fifth grade.
Can girls join the Scouting BSA program?
Scouts BSA has been expanded to include females into the program at all levels, at designated Packs and Troops.
My son or daughter is too young for Scouting. Is there a local Cub Pack?
Pack 270, also chartered through Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church, is a Family Scouting organization and able to accept young boys and girls, Grades K-5 (5-10 years old). For additional information, click here.
My child has special needs; is there a place for him in Scouting?
Yes! Scouting is an all inclusive program. Accommodations can be made to assist your child with advancement, camping and program features to ensure that your he or she gets the best experience possible.
We are new to the Scouting program. What supplies will my child need?
At minimum, each Scout will need a uniform and a handbook. Additional supplies and equipment may be needed for certain activities such as camping trips or field days. What equipment is needed, as well as whether it will be provided by the unit, will vary. Unit leaders should provide parents with information.
Many items, including uniforms, patches, Handbooks and some supplies, can be found at local Nankin Hobby stores.

How often does Troop 270 go camping?
We try strive to have at least one camping trip or Troop excursion per month.
The Troop Committee works to provide parents and Scouts with as much advance notice as possible regarding planned activities to ensure maximum participation.
