Our History

Boy Scout Troop 270 was originally founded in 1952, chartered through Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church.  We remain the oldest Scout Troop in the City of Livonia,

Over the years, we have remained a thriving and vital part of our Charter community, and our Scouts have actively participated in local and district events and service opportunities.

Our halls have seen many young men rise to the rank of Eagle Scout, including a notable clutch of seven new Eagles in January, 2013.

In the Fall of 2017, we welcomed the Scouts and leaders of Troop 875, also based out of Livonia and charted through St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. We were pleased to discover that our chartered organizations were in fact "sister parishes," which has allowed us the happy opportunity to continue to support and serve them both.

Troop 875, founded in 1963, brought with it its own proud history and accomplishments as well as its commitment to service and dedication to the Scout Oath and Scout Law. A traditionally smaller Troop in a sea of giants, 875 remained very active and dedicated to its Charter community, neighborhood, Order of the Arrow and local Scout camps by providing support and service where needed. As one former leader once proclaimed, "We may be small, but we leave a big footprint!"

Troop 875 also boasts of a proud and upstanding nest of Eagles and amazing Scouts over its many years, as well as dedicated leadership and supportive parents. We are both grateful and blessed to receive them into our ranks.

As we move forward now, one Troop and one Family in Scouting, we hope to continue to inspire others by our actions as well as our words and oaths.  We are all travelers on the same road. Though we have reached this point on our journey by different routes, we all dream of the same destination. 

It is our goal and our mission to continue to weave together our shared experiences, knowledge and abilities to ensure the surviving and thriving presence of our Troop long into the future.
